Every AI system reflects decisions about what to optimize, how to measure success, which tradeoffs to accept and how a product should behave. At scale, even small choices can shape what becomes easier, harder or possible for millions of people. In this keynote, Chloé Bakalar draws on a decade of applied AI ethics experience in industry and academia to examine how companies can make the values behind those choices explicit, consistent and defensible, and carry them through measurement, evals, model behavior, product design and deployment.
