Vijay Narasimhan, PhD, MBA is Director of Technology Investments and Partnerships at M Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, where he focuses on startups in AI for Science, Physical AI, and Deep Tech. Before moving into venture capital, he led R&D collaborations at EMD Electronics, championing enterprise AI programs that brought machine learning into materials discovery and experimental design.

A materials scientist turned investor, Vijay holds degrees from Stanford (PhD, Materials Science), Cambridge (MPhil, Nanotechnology), and IE University & Brown University (MBA), with 17 peer-reviewed publications, 2,900+ citations, and 6 patent families spanning applied AI and machine learning, ferroelectric memories, nanoscale optoelectronics, energy technologies, and RF systems. He lives in Connecticut and works out of the M Ventures offices in Boston.
