Terrence Ryan
Developer Relations Engineer
Google Cloud
About Terrence
Terrence Ryan is a Developer Advocate for Cloud AI at Google, where for late, he spends his time building practical, agentic AI tools that actually fix real team headaches. A 15+ year veteran of developer relations, Terrence both deeply values AI but also is deeply skeptical about what the zeitgeist is saying about it as it begins to permeate the actual human experience of building software.
Before his current role, he was an Engineering Manager for Google Cloud and a DevRel Manager for the Agent Development Kit (ADK). In those roles, he led the engineering teams tasked with making Generative AI models perform better in the real world—directing work on automated dataset creation, code-generation self-training, and the internal RAG systems that help power Gemini. Earlier in his career, he held technical and evangelism leadership roles at Adobe and The Wharton School.
Terrence pairs his deep engineering background with a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, giving him a distinct focus on how people—not just systems—interact with technology. He’s also the author of Driving Technical Change (Pragmatic Bookshelf), a practical guide to the soft skills needed to convince skeptical teams to adopt new tech.
