About Samleo

Dr. Samleo Joseph is Vice President of Research, Development & Innovation at JPMorgan Chase, where he leads strategic innovation programs shaping the future of enterprise systems. As an Industry 5.0 thought leader, he believes the next era of AI is not about full autonomy. Instead, it is about human value at scale, built on systems that are trusted, inclusive, and resilient.

His career spans the full arc of intelligent machines, starting with physical AI robots and moving to virtual agents that orchestrate across the enterprise. As a researcher at CUNY and IBM Research, he developed assistive robotics to help blind individuals navigate independently. Building machines that people literally trusted with their physical safety shaped his human-centered approach to AI and his conviction that the best intelligence is rooted in empathy.

Across his career at Fortune 100 companies, Dr. Joseph has led firmwide strategic programs transforming AI, product, and big data across multiple lines of business. His corporate expertise includes scaling massive innovation operating models, advancing agentic AI architectures, establishing trustworthy AI governance frameworks, and engineering complex hybrid-cloud intelligence systems.

Dr. Joseph holds M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the City University of New York, where he also taught as an adjunct professor. He has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed papers on robotics and cyber-physical systems, including works published in IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems, and holds multiple U.S. patents. Having built robots where failure carried real-world consequences, he brings a rare perspective on what it takes to build systems worthy of trust.
