About Ron

Ron has written about and covered AI since 1995 and at Forbes since 2018. He writes regularly as a Forbes AI Columnist and contributor to TechTarget and Cognitive World, where his articles reach millions worldwide.

Ron is founder and head bot-wrangler at Scalebrate where he helps teams exponential scale using AI-powered tools, automation, systems, education, and community. He also writes for the Exponential Scale newsletter and host of the Exponential Scale podcast to share proven playbooks, stories, and insights from teams that have learned how to scale big without adding tons of headcount.

Ron previously served as Global Head, Director of AI Partnerships & Outreach and General Manager of at the Project Management Institute (PMI) after their acquisition of his company Cognilytica, a research, advisory, and education firm focused on AI. At Cognilytica, he developed the CPMAI methodology, training, and certification for running and managing AI projects, now with thousands certified through Cognilytica and PMI.

Previously, Ron founded and managed TechBreakfast, the largest monthly demo-focused tech event in the U.S. with over 50,000+ members. He also founded Bizelo, providing SaaS solutions for small business automation as well as ZapThink, an analyst and training firm covering XML, Web Services, and Service-Oriented architecture that was acquired by Dovel Technologies in 2011.

Prior to that, Ron founded Zoptopz, a crazy idea for a fad-inspired baseball cap company that failed, and prior to that Channelwave, a pioneering ecommerce and enterprise software firm acquired by Click Commerce after $60M+ in funding. Channelwave acquired his first company, VirtuMall, which was an early e-commerce pioneer that has an entry in Wikipedia for one of the first e-commerce companies founded in 1994.

Ron is a TechStars investor, A-Level Capital investor, SXSW Interactive Awards Judge, and author of XML and Web Services Unleashed (SAMS Publishing) and Service-Orient or Be Doomed (Wiley). He has a BSEE in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT, and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University.
