Mike has built a career at the intersection of media, technology, and entrepreneurship — holding leadership roles at major studios (Fox & Warner Bros.) and pioneering tech companies that shaped the Internet (Netscape). Today, he channels that experience into preparing the next generation of innovators through teaching at USC and building the Global Student Startup Foundation (GSSF).

At USC, Mike teaches in the Technology & Applied Computing (TAC) department within the Mark & Mary Steven’s School of Computing & Artificial Intelligence in the Viterbi School of Engineering, focusing on applied artificial intelligence and global student entrepreneurship. He is a recipient of the USC Marshall Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence — voted on by students.

Mike is the Founder & Chairman of the Global Student Startup Foundation (GSSF), a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is simple: Talent is global. Opportunity is not. GSSF runs six programs — the Global Student Startup Competition (GSSC), Global AI Cup, GSSF Academy, GSSF Ventures, GSSF Advisory, and GSSF AI Labs — bringing the world's top undergraduate entrepreneurs from USC, UC Berkeley, Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Aalto, Seoul National University, and beyond to compete and collaborate on the world stage at the Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul.

Mike is an active member of the USC University Club Board of Councilors and serves on select innovation and entrepreneurship boards globally.

Previously, Mike served as Secretary General of the USC Academic Senate and as CTO of USC Annenberg's Media Impact Project. Before joining academia, he spent over a decade in executive technology roles — VP of Technology at Fox and Warner Bros., Technology Evangelist at Netscape, and CTO/VP at various Internet and software startups.

A frequent speaker on AI, digital innovation, and global entrepreneurship, Mike has presented at conferences worldwide.

He resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two kids. His extended family spans the globe — the students, founders, mentors, and changemakers he has the fortune of meeting through GSSF. #FightOn ✌️
