Mark R. Kanner, PhD, is a Senior Director of Data Science at UnitedHealthcare in the fraud and abuse detection space. He brings a diverse background spanning healthcare, people analytics, and supply chain/manufacturing, with experience as both a technical contributor and a data science leader. Mark focuses on translating AI capabilities into real business impact, ensuring strong stakeholder engagement and measurable value creation. In healthcare, he has driven the development of novel anomaly detection techniques to identify provider fraud, enhanced payment integrity models, and led cross-functional teams deploying solutions in Provider Operations. Beyond fraud detection, Mark has applied advanced analytics to workforce challenges, including attrition and retention modeling, as well as to improving medication adherence outcomes. He holds a PhD in Physics from the CUNY Graduate Center.
