About Mark
Mark D. Green, Ed.D., is Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, Technology & Innovation at Holy Family University, where he leads AI strategy, data infrastructure, and digital transformation for a higher education organization managing thousands of students and multimillion-dollar operations.
His expertise is in what most organizations struggle with: moving from AI experimentation to AI implementation that actually works. Combining a background in natural language processing, data analytics, and human-centered design, he has built AI systems that automate workflows, improve decision-making, and deliver measurable outcomes, from predictive models for student success to operational tools that have fundamentally changed how work gets done.
Green's doctoral research at Boston College, "Reimagining the Academy: Ethical AI, Institutional Strategy, and Human-Centered Digital Transformation," examines how organizations adopt AI without losing sight of mission, ethics, or the humans the technology is meant to serve. The methodology he developed, using design thinking to move teams from AI paralysis to AI strategy, has been delivered as workshops at EDUCAUSE, the Middle States Commission, and Ellucian Live, and transfers across sectors facing the same challenge: closing the gap between AI promise and AI practice.
He also teaches "AI & the Humanities," a course exploring artificial intelligence through ethics and critical inquiry, because AI literacy demands more than technical fluency.
Green holds an Ed.D. from Boston College and an M.S. from Florida State University. He writes at Designing Tomorrow's University on Substack and serves as a Peer Reviewer for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
