About Kristie
Kristie Rowley, PhD currently leads AI Operations at BambooHR and is an AI, data, and technology leader with more than 30 years of experience helping organizations navigate technological transformation. She has advised hundreds of organizations—including Fortune 500 companies, startups, nonprofits, governments, and policy institutes—on how to use artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making to create meaningful business and human impact.
Her career spans academia, consulting, technical leadership, and team development. She has served as a professor, built and led engineering and AI teams, developed technical methodologies and educational programs, and authored more than 100 published works. This blend of technical depth and organizational insight gives her a distinctive vantage point on one of AI's most consequential applications: the systems that shape how companies hire, retain, and support the people who work for them.
Within HR specifically, Dr. Rowley has advised HR software companies and HR business units on building and deploying AI applications across the employee lifecycle. She recently presented "AI Maturity Playbook: Build Trustworthy Tools for Recruiting, Rewarding, and Retaining Talent" at SHRM, a framework helping HR leaders assess their organization's AI maturity and apply AI responsibly to recruiting, compensation strategy, and retention, including predictive models for employee turnover and flight risk.
Having worked through multiple waves of technological change, Dr. Rowley brings a long-view perspective to innovation, leadership, and the challenges of organizational transformation. She is particularly interested in helping leaders understand not only what is changing, but also the enduring human and organizational principles that persist amid disruption. She applies this lens directly to the promises and pitfalls of AI in HR.
Through her writing and speaking, Dr. Rowley explores the human side of technology, organizational behavior, leadership in the age of AI, and the insights that emerge when innovation meets experience. Her work focuses on helping leaders build organizations that adapt, innovate, and thrive in times of rapid change, without losing sight of the people those systems are meant to serve.
Kristie has been recognized as a member of Utah's AI 100, Utah Business' 30 Women to Watch, and Women Tech Council's AI Women Power List.
