Justin Johnson is VP of AI & Engineering at Renaissance Benefits, where he leads engineering and company-wide AI transformation initiatives. He brings nearly 20 years of experience building and scaling software systems and is deeply involved in how AI is reshaping modern engineering workflows—from code generation and testing to release automation and team productivity.

Prior to Renaissance, Justin served as VP of Engineering at 2U following its acquisition of Trilogy Education, and previously held senior engineering leadership roles at Bank of America and Lowes.com, giving him deep experience applying AI-driven tooling across large, complex, and regulated environments.

Justin is also an instructor in Overclock Accelerator’s AI Engineering & AI Operations programs, where he teaches engineers and non-engineers how to use modern code models and agentic workflows to move from manual development to AI-assisted execution. His work focuses on pragmatic, production-ready AI adoption—integrating models into real-world stacks and teams to improve velocity, quality, and reliability without sacrificing sound engineering fundamentals.
