About Camille
Camille Nwaefulu is a Senior Cryptography Engineer on Visa’s Applied Cryptography team, specializing in Data Protection Architecture & Engineering, where she leads enterprise initiatives in applied cryptography, sensitive data tokenization, encryption, cryptographic agility, and post-quantum readiness. With more than eight years of experience across global payments, federal consulting, aerospace and defense, and other highly regulated environments, she has helped design and scale security architectures protecting sensitive data across more than 200 applications supporting billions of financial transactions.
Camille develops tokenization and encryption solutions that reduce data exposure while enabling secure business innovation. She also serves as a senior technical authority and leader for complex data-protection and applied cryptography challenges. Her work spans data-protection due diligence, remediation, privacy by design, and post-acquisition integration across three major acquisitions collectively valued in the billions of dollars. She evaluates inherited data environments, identifies security and privacy gaps, develops remediation roadmaps, and drives risks through closure to support secure enterprise integration.
Camille has contributed to enterprise post-quantum cryptography efforts through proof-of-concept initiatives evaluating the integration and performance of quantum-resistant technologies. She works alongside her team to translate emerging cryptographic standards into practical implementation strategies that protect long-lived sensitive data.
As a trusted partner to engineering, product, legal, cloud, risk, audit, and executive stakeholders, Camille leads enterprise audits, communicates complex technical risks to senior and executive leadership, and strengthens alignment with regulatory and security requirements.
Earlier in her career, Camille worked as a Software Engineer on Northrop Grumman’s Nuclear Surety team, supporting the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program, a major United States nuclear weapons modernization initiative, through software assurance, cybersecurity analysis, threat modeling, and risk management for mission-critical defense systems.
Camille holds a Master of Engineering from The George Washington University and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree. She is recognized for combining technical depth, strategic vision, and cross-functional leadership to build resilient data protection programs for today’s threats and tomorrow’s quantum-security challenges.
