About Brian

Brian Allen is a recognized leader in artificial intelligence governance, technology risk, and operational resilience. He serves as Executive Director of the AI RegRisk® Think Tank, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing programmatic AI governance in regulated industries such as finance and healthcare. He is a member of the NIST AI Safety Institute Consortium, contributing to the federal government’s effort to develop standards and safeguards for responsible AI deployment. He also serves as Chief Trust Advisor to Ampliwork, an enterprise AI agent company.

Under his leadership, the Think Tank develops governance frameworks and educational programs, including the AI RegRisk Governance Program, that equip boards and executives to govern AI as a managed enterprise discipline rather than reacting to individual technology risks in isolation.

Most recently, Brian was Senior Vice President of Emerging Technology Risk Management at the Bank Policy Institute’s BITS division, where he represented the nation’s largest banks before Congress, regulators, and the intelligence community on AI, cybersecurity, fraud, and emerging technology risk. Prior to that, he served as Chief Security Officer at Time Warner Cable, a Fortune 100 critical infrastructure company, where he oversaw enterprise-wide security and operational risk strategy for over a decade. Earlier, at EY, he led cyber risk management programs, advising Fortune 50 executives and boards on regulatory obligations and strategic security initiatives.

Brian has represented industry in national security and regulatory forums, including serving on the executive committees of the Financial Services and Communications ISACs and Sector Coordinating Councils, and being appointed by the FCC to collaborate with NIST on the Cybersecurity Framework. He is the author of three books on risk management, including Building a Cyber Risk Management Program (O’Reilly), and serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Connecticut’s MBA Financial Risk Management program. His career spans board-level advisory, public-private partnerships, and C-suite leadership, with a consistent focus: helping organizations govern disruptive technologies through structured, enterprise-wide programs.
