Andy Tang is a Partner at Draper Associates, where he focuses on investing in early-stage technology companies and guiding their growth, strategic development, and partnerships. He is also a Founding Partner at Draper Dragon and serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee at Draper University, a Silicon Valley accelerator and entrepreneurship education program where he teaches finance and fundraising to aspiring entrepreneurs. In addition, Andy directs VCx, an invite-only alliance of family offices that promotes generational relationship building, education, and co-investing. VCx now includes over 50 member families across the globe, whose core businesses span retail, real estate, food and beverage, insurance, mining and resources, industrial, transportation, and banking sectors.

With over two decades of experience spanning operations, R&D, investment banking, and venture investing, Andy has played a pivotal role in seeding over 20 unicorns and several decacorns, including Polymarket, Colossal, and Oklo.

His current investment interests include Bleeding Edge Technology (BET), AI infrastructure, Digital Health, and Digital Assets/Web3. Before joining the Draper investment platform in 2006, Andy was a partner at ABB Technologies Ventures and Infineon Ventures. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking with Credit Suisse First Boston’s technology group in Palo Alto, where he contributed to the Magma IPO (SNPS) and the Cyras (CIEN) acquisition under the leadership of Frank Quattrone and George Boutros. Before banking, Andy served as a senior engineer and marketing manager at Intel, focusing on chip design and market enabling for the Pentium and Itanium processors.

Originally from Taiwan, Andy moved to Arlington, Texas at age 13. He holds degrees from UT Austin (B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering), MIT (M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) under the guidance of President Rafael Reif, and Wharton (MBA). He also holds a U.S. patent in silicon germanium thin film materials and was honored as a Distinguished Young Alumni by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Andy lives in Menlo Park, California, with his wife Emily and their two sons. He is an avid skier, animal lover, and dedicated meditation practitioner.
