Alex is a Partner at Scale Venture Partners, focused on early investments in vertical markets where incumbents have underinvested in advanced technology. This thesis has led to investments in Motive (formerly KeepTruckin), Root Insurance (ROOT), Spruce (acquired by Zillow), Range, Sixfold, Proscia, and Archipelago, among others. He has been in venture for over 20 years and at Scale since 2012, investing through the rise of the internet, social, mobile, cloud, SaaS, and now AI. His focus on verticals was shaped early by watching his dad’s transportation businesses intersect with many industries. He began investing in fintech and trucking a decade ago and has stayed committed to vertical software across market cycles.
