About Aisha
Aisha K. Lawrey, MPA, is the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Portfolio Lead for Engineering Executive & Professional Education at Johns Hopkins University, where she leads the strategy, growth, and industry engagement for AI-focused executive education programs that prepare professionals and organizations to adopt artificial intelligence responsibly and effectively.
Aisha is an executive leader with more than 18 years of experience at the intersection of artificial intelligence, workforce development, higher education, technology, and strategic partnerships. Throughout her career, she has built and led cross-sector collaborations that expand access to emerging technologies, strengthen talent pipelines, and drive organizational innovation. She is passionate about helping leaders translate AI from a technical capability into a strategic advantage while ensuring its implementation is ethical, inclusive, and human-centered.
Prior to Johns Hopkins, Aisha served as Head of Global Education Programs for Amazon Web Services (AWS), where she led strategic education and workforce development initiatives that expanded cloud and AI learning opportunities for more than 31 million learners across 200 countries. She partnered with universities, Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to accelerate digital transformation and prepare learners for the future of work through scalable education and workforce initiatives.
A nationally recognized advocate for STEM and AI education, Aisha serves on the Board of Directors for STEM From Dance, the ASME Scholarship Committee, and the ASEE Engineering for One Planet Advisory Board. She is also an AAAS IF/THEN® STEM Ambassador and a #IamRemarkable facilitator, mentoring and empowering women and underrepresented communities to pursue leadership in STEM and technology. Aisha is an active member of ForbesBLK, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), where she collaborates with leaders advancing innovation, workforce development, and greater representation in STEM and technology.
Aisha is a sought-after speaker on responsible AI, the future of work, workforce transformation, strategic partnerships, and leadership. Her work focuses on equipping executives, educators, and organizations with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate rapid technological change while fostering innovation that benefits people, organizations, and communities.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and a Master of Public Policy and Administration from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey–Newark.
