Why More Miles Aren’t the Answer: The Case for Reasoning-First AV Architecture
About this session
Humans don’t need millions of miles of experience to drive safely, so why do we keep building AVs that do? As autonomous vehicles expand into more cities and edge cases multiply, chasing data is not enough to make our roads safer. I’ll explain how traditional rule-based and end-to-end AV models share a critical flaw: they can’t reliably handle situations they’ve never seen before. I’ll also show why pairing deep learning with reasoning models is the architecture that handles any situation and why that matters at scale. If you want to see how AVs will truly create a safer world, this presentation will take you through the how and why of building AVs responsibly.
