The Waymo Journey: From Moonshot to Global Deployment

About this session

In 2009, a small team set out to prove that cars could drive themselves. Today, that "moonshot" is a commercial reality. Join Waymo co-CEO Dmitri Dolgov and the industry veteran Sebastian Thrun—two of the program’s original founders—for a rare conversation on the evolution of autonomous driving. This session, moderated by Tim O'Reilly, will explore the audacious vision that started it all and the strategic pivots required to turn a lab experiment into a global service. While Thrun has since moved on to new frontiers, Dolgov has remained at the helm for over 15 years, guiding Waymo’s current trajectory as the world leader in autonomous mobility. Gain a dual perspective on the breakthroughs of the past and Waymo’s current expansion.
