Realtime Operational Instrumentation in Healthcare: AI Analytics in Action
About this session
What if the problem with healthcare analytics isn't the models, but the fact that someone has to go somewhere to look at them? Most organizations deliver intelligence as dashboards, reports you visit after the work is done, while the decisions that matter are made inside workflows the dashboard never touches. I will show how my team at a Medi-Cal health plan serving 420,000 members replaced this pattern with operational instruments: AI-driven systems embedded at the moment of work, from provider dispute resolution that cut median close time from 57 days to 24, to compliance audits where regulatory rules are enforced by the architecture itself. Attendees will learn the design principles that separate an instrument from a dashboard, how to firewall risk models from the decisions they inform, and how to build this inside a regulated environment without waiting for an AI strategy to be approved. If your organization is still debating AI while the work piles up, this talk is the operating manual for starting anyway.
