Medical Imaging AI for rare cancer with minimal data

· Marcello Ballroom 4404

About this session

How can we build AI that will help identify cancers so rare that most pathologists cannot diagnose with confidence? 25% of all cancer instances are of a 'rare' type by the National Cancer Institute of NIH. For many of these the data to build AI is extremely limited. Creation is a serious challenge, then validation for FDA 510k is an even bigger hurtle. Imagine if your medical team could diagnose something that they have never seen before with enough directional confidence to take the next step. This talk will explore strategies and tactics for gathering data, creating AI, and methods to get it into clinical hands. We will touch on what drives Innovation in teams and explore the foundation of innovation in business and products. With 7 patents in medical imaging and a few more pending, steering committee position with University of Pittsburgh Computational Pathology and Ai Center of excellence, and 30+ years of experience in medical imaging and Ai, I hope to give you the inspiration to find the next advancement as you work here on the cutting edge of Ai in healthcare.
