How AI Empowers a 4-Person Nonprofit to Perform Like a Team of 40
About this session
How can a team of four use AI to scale nationwide impact like an organization ten times its size? For 17 years, I have led AmpleHarvest.org, an award-winning nonprofit fighting hunger and food waste by connecting America’s 62 million gardeners with more than 8,500 food pantries in 5,700 communities across all 50 states, with a staff of just four. For our first 14 years, we operated in a world where today’s AI tools were not available to any of us yet in the past three years, AI has come to touch nearly every part of our work, from compressing weeks of grant writing into an hour and identifying overlooked food-insecure communities to mining tens of thousands of rejection emails for re-engagement opportunities, detecting fraud, preparing board meetings, and creating multilingual outreach. I will share more than 30 practical AI applications we already use to help a small nonprofit perform like an organization ten times its size, with no data team, no large budget, and no hype. Attendees will leave with concrete ideas and a clear starting point they can put to work in their own organizations on Monday morning. This is not a tech talk; it is a solutions talk.
