AI-Driven Platform Engineering with MCP
About this session
Platform Engineering teams are increasingly using AI to reduce operational toil, speed up incident response, and enable self-service infrastructure. This talk explores using AI as a natural-language interface to cloud-native systems through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It shows how platform engineers apply AI to workflows like infrastructure authoring, debugging, monitoring, and alert analysis. The session demonstrates practical MCP integrations, including Terraform, Kubernetes, Grafana, AWS, Alertmanager, and GitLab MCP servers for tasks such as IaC generation, drift detection, resource inspection, and CI/CD decision-making. Finally, it introduces FastMCP, a framework for safely building custom MCP servers that expose internal tools to AI.
